Instituto Piaget

PT | EN

The Instituto Piaget has been consolidating its areas of intervention over nearly thirty years of constant work. It now boasts schools of education, schools of health, university institutes and Piaget publications in Portugal and Jean Piaget universities in Africa.

These schools and universities are organised in campuses built in peripheral and inland areas of the country. Their firm goal is to help create human competences and activities in their areas of intervention as an essential step towards reducing human exclusion and desertification and ensuring the equitable development of peoples and nations.

In Portugal
Today the institute has:
- 4 Jean Piaget Schools of Education
- 4 university institutes – ISEIT
- 4 Jean Piaget schools of health

Each school and institute is independent, with its own pedagogical and governing bodies. This independence is naturally bounded by common guidelines and each course has the same syllabus at all the schools at which it is taught.

Jean Piaget Schools of Education
Almada, Viseu, Vila Nova de Gaia and Macedo de Cavaleiros

These are polytechnic colleges set up under the Private and Cooperative Education Statute and train teachers for the different levels of education and for social and cultural work.

Our schools of education organise and administer polytechnic courses, promote research to achieve their pedagogical goals and serve the surrounding communities and hold specialisation courses, refresher courses and any others that contribute to the development of their regions.

University Institutes
Almada, Mirandela, Santo André and Viseu

These institutes offer university courses in the arts, applied sciences, technology, social and human sciences and further and advanced training.

They also foster trans-disciplinary and applied research as a way of developing their teaching staff, improving the training of specialised personnel and helping to strengthen capacities and support structures for other business activities.

The Instituto Piaget has equipped its university campuses with the technical and laboratory resources they need for their degree courses.

Schools of health
Macedo de Cavaleiros, Silves, Vila Nova de Gaia and Viseu

The Jean Piaget schools of health are polytechnic colleges set up under the Private and Cooperative Education Statute that offer degree courses in health technologies, such as nursing, physiotherapy and laboratory tests, among many others. They administer specialisation and refresher courses, conduct training and research for development projects and perform health research with other public and private bodies.

Africa
Jean Piaget Universities

The Instituto Piaget follows a policy of promoting the Portuguese language in the world and cooperating with the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). It believes in training a new generation of people and nations and has therefore extended its work to Africa, where it now plays an important role in higher education and management staff training.

The Instituto Piaget set up the Jean Piaget universities in Cape Verde, Angola and Mozambique from scratch, building their facilities and providing the necessary resources for high-quality higher education. It pays particular attention to training its staff and making a real contribution to improving the population’s quality of life.

In Angola, Cape Verde and Mozambique the Instituto Piaget provides degree courses in areas as diverse as engineering, education and medicine, creating a new pool of qualified staff capable of leading the construction and development of their countries
